Our next Education Night will be presented by NSWAFI President, Michael Forbes, on the topic of Negative Corpus. Negative Corpus is Latin and translates roughly to "without (negative) the body (corpus) of the crime". It refers to an investigative methodology whereby the cause of a fire can be determined by the elimination of all other potential ignition sources. Understandably, this is a controversial subject in the fire investigation community. The pros and cons of this methodology will be discussed, as well as the position of the NFPA, followed by a round table discussion amongst our members.
