Well we have just come out of hosting the AAFI 2016 conference and I can confidently say that it was an outstanding success! We had 115 delegates attend over three days with delegates coming from all over Australia and New Zealand. We spent one day at the FRNSW FIRU Research facility at Londonderry where the delegates were put through two fire scenes created by Steve Carman. Two flashover demonstrations were also shown to everyone. There were then two days of conferencing at the Crowne Plaza Coogee. The highlight was the attendance of the NSW Coroner in an open panel discussion on expert witness testimony. This event was taken on by NSWAFI two years ago with a lot of planning in the past 12 months. After all that planning I can announce that we have made a profit from the event. This is a great result for the Association. This will give the Association financial stability in the coming years.
As a part of his presentations, Steve Carman played numerous videos to show the effects of ventilation and elevation on fire development. A majority of delegates advised that having this footage would be useful, and Steve graciously supplied digital copies of the presentation footage to us. Also available for viewing is the footage taken during the test burns at Londonderry. All of these videos are available to view on the NSWAFI YouTube channel.
A lot of photos have also been uploaded to our Facebook page. If you would like, have a look and download them. While you are there, like our page!
