NSWAFI is hosting the first education night for 2020 on Thursday 6th Feb. The topic is Firefighter and Fire Investigator Hygiene and Safety.
Rick Owen from the CFA will talk about his work in reducing the impact of smoke on firefighters. Rick has been awarded two fellowships, one by Emergency Services Foundation in 2011 and a Churchill Fellowship in 2018. His fellowship topic was about ‘reducing occupational cancer exposures in firefighters through improved initial decontamination’. Although primarily aimed at firefighters, the six main concepts developed in his report also apply directly to fire investigators. He will discuss simple and cost-effective means of reducing your exposures.
The venue for the night will be Fire + Rescue NSW Head Office at 1 Amarina Avenue Greenacre. The presentation will commence at 18:30 hours. Please RSVP using the booking form.
Hope to see you on the night!
