Presenter: Professor Paul Christensen is the Professor of Pure and Applied Electrochemistry at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, England UK. He is considered a world-leading expert on Lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery safety. He has conducted wide-ranging research and experiments on Li-ion batteries.

This presentation will cover Li-ion battery basics; the pros and cons of Li-ion batteries; the white vapour cloud and what happens when the vapour ignites; Electric Vehicles (EV); an overview of lithium battery energy storage system fires and explosions; and will include an in-depth analysis of a battery explosion that occurred on 19 April 2019 in the city of Surprise Arizona USA.
