RPAS - Where are we now and what is the future


Remote Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) has changed the way fire investigators conduct their investigations. Fire + Rescue NSW (FRNSW) has been one of the leaders using this piece of technology for many years since its beginning in 2015. The amount of change in the technology over many years has been huge and the capability of these device has also changed significantly. This presentation will look at what these changes are and will provide a glimpse into the future of RPAS.

The presenter is Leading Firefighter Anthony Wallgate, who is the current Chief Remote Pilot for FRNSW. He has been with FRNSW for 25 years. He was the Aviation Officer when FRNSW had dual use of a helicopter with NSW Police. Anthony led the aviation unit when it transitioned to RPAS in 2015. He has been a part of the aviation unit since 2009. He has seen the technological change during this time.
